P240,000 worth of properties destroyed
Properties worth P240,000 were destroyed in two fire incidents last Friday in Talisay City, southern Cebu.
The first fire broke out at 11:13 a.m. in barangay Dumlog.
SFO2 Felipe Abarquez said the fire started in a candy and “ampao” factory where an Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) exploded.
The factory was owned by Necitas Maturan.
Apart from the factory, the fire also razed two houses owned by Arthuro Maturan and Edmund Cabigas.
Damage was pegged at P200,000.
Article continues after this advertisementBarely three hours later, a second broke out in sitio San Rafael in barangay Tangke.
Article continues after this advertisementInvestigators said the fire started at the house of Alfonso Amistad where his four-year-old grandson was seen playing with matches before the fire broke out.
Amistad said the boy was left at home while he went fishing.
The fire spread to the shanty of Philip Guiral.
Abarquez said since the fire site was located in the interior of San Rafael, firefighters had to connect hoses of the three fire trucks which responded to the alarm./CHIEF OF REPORTERS DORIS C. BONGCAC
