Cebuano Cary Bullos faces Morikawa tonight in URCC

/ 07:17 AM January 19, 2013

PRIZED Cebuano mixed martial arts fighter, Cary “The Prince” Bullos promises a battle for the ages tonight when he tangles with Japanese Karate expert Hedio “Death From Tokyo” Morikawa in the main event of the Universal Reality Combat Championship Cebu fight card dubbed “Survival” at the Convention Hall of the J Centre Mall in AS Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.

Though the URCC Visayas bantamweight title is not on the line, SelDef MMA’s Bullos assured fight fans that they are in for a show in spite of his one-year layoff from in-ring fighting.

Bullos completed his long climb back to prominence with a submission win via guillotine choke over Rex Delara during URCC Cebu’s fight card last year, which netter him the aforementioned title.

“I won’t promise a knockout or a submission, but all I can say is that this fight with Morikawa will be a war in the ring,” said Bullos.

Morikawa has other plans as he aims to break a two fight losing streak, with his latest setback coming at the hands of Reysaldo Transmonte during URCC’s 10th-year anniversary show last December dubbed “Dekada.” “I will use my advantage which is my speed to beat him (Bullos),” he said.

Whetting the appetite of avid Cebuano MMA fans are several other bouts including the much-anticipated matchup between the undefeated Vaugh “TheSpawn” Donaire of YawYan Ardigma/Deftac Cebu and the dangerous veteran from Mindanao, Allan Atup of Python’s Pit. Also on the card is an equally-explosive wringer between Lord Rey Yamit of Python’s Pit and Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo of SelDef.

The rest of the card features Roel Rosauro vs. Jeremy Quinonero; Alexander Abraham vs. Philipe Demecilio; Arnel Ylanan vs. Jhonjher Torbiso; Moises Nodalo vs. Ervin Musico; and Rodel Rejalde vs. Leo Rodrigo. The card kicks off at 8 pm. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
