Mariquit Aqua snaps Bostolits’ 2-game run

THE Mariquit Aqua Venture stopped the two-game winning streak of defending champion Grace Bostolits, 76-75, in the ongoing Upper Bayanihan Catholic Association (UBCA) Camp 2013 Second Season basketball tournament at the barangay Quiot Sports Complex.

Grace Bostolits led by single-digit in the first three periods anchored on its fiery trio of Michael Malalay, Nicole Llamedo and Sek Regis. But Mariquit Aqua outscored Grace Bostolits, 22-14 in the fourth for the one-point victory. Robert Abasolo unleashed 12 of his 25 points in that crucial Mariquit Aqua (2-1) run.

Robert Abasolo led the Aqua makers with a game-high 25 points while Michael Malalay paced Grace Bostolits with 21 markers.

In the other game, ICC Pharmacy drubbed UBCA Magic, 88-73, for its second win in four games (2-2) while the latter dropped to 1-3.

Danny Dela Peña paced the Pharmacians with 14 points while Tom Villaso and Jessie Rudinas paced Ubca Magic with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

In the main game, San Carlos Heights (SCH) drupped Quiot, 88-70, for its first win in two games while the latter fell to 1-2.

Charlie Sadorra and Yok Alesna fired a game-high 20 and 14 points, respectively for SCH while Arnel Abellanosa and Abbs Fabrea paced Quiot with 16 points apiece.
