MANILA, Philippines — Over 3,000 persons were affected by floods due to rains dumped by a low pressure area in Mindanao, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.
The affected persons are from Davao and Soccsksargen, the NDRRMC said.
About 300 persons were evacuated in Compostela Valley and General Santos City.
Butuan City was on Flood Alert Level 1 as there was a reported rise of two meters above sea level in Agusan river. Residents were advised for possible flashfloods and landslides.
Meanwhile, the low pressure nearing the Philippine territory dissipated, while one more LPA was being monitored 480 kilometers southeast of General Santos City, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration posted as of Thursday before noon.
The LPA was embedded along an intertropical convergence zone, and will bring moderate to heavy rains in Bohol, the provinces of Leyte and Samar and Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
In a special forecast, Pagasa said Davao and Compostela Valley would have moderate to heavy rains until Friday.
