Dodie Boy Jr. eyes first reg’l title on March 23

Undefeated prospect Dodie Boy Peñalosa Jr., will be fighting for his first regional title this March 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City against Mexico’s Lizandro de los Santos.

The fight will stake the WBO Oriental superbantamweight belt on the line informed promoter and former two-division world boxing champion Gerry Peñalosa who is also Dodie Jr’s uncle.

The 22-year-old Peñalosa Jr. (10W-0L 10 KOs) scored an impressive win in his United States debut last December by knocking out Jesus Lule of Florida in two rounds on the undercard of Pacquiao-Marquez 4 in Las Vegas.

Last year, he also beat two other foreign opponents, Superjames Singmanasak of Thailand by first round TKO in Caloocan City and Alex Buckie of Indonesia by ninth round knockout at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

The 21-year-old De los Santos (19W-10L, 7 KOs) has lost in his attempts to win the WBO Youth and WBC Mundo Hispano titles. He won his last three fights held in Mexico.
