JASON ‘CNJ Cobra’ Canoy of the Omega Boxing Gym of Cebu won by TKO in the first round against Arlon ‘Turbo’ Batingal in the main event of a fight card held at the Borbon Sports Complex in Borbon, Cebu last Saturday.
A punch from Canoy inflicted a cut on Batingal’s eyelid which led to the stoppage at 2:28 of the round.
Canoy improved his record to 16W-3L-2D, 11 KOs and annexed the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) flyweight belt for his effort. Batingal for his part, dropped to 7W-6L, 4 KOs.
In the supporting bouts, Jessie Cris Rosales beat Ronnie Lino by unanimous decision in 10 rounds; Junie Salogaol won by TKO in the fifth round against Rodel Sungkit; Jordan Catubay won by TKO in the fifth round against Robert Awetin; Arnel Caoktoy beat Louie Saguisa by unanimous decision after 6 rounds; Salatiel ‘Pakyaw’ Amit won over Roger Libres by third round TKO and Brandon Tavares beat Gary Rojo by TKO in the third round.
