Casimero’s rival is Panama’s ‘Boxer of the Year’ for 2012

INTERNATIONAL Boxing Federation (IBF) junior flyweight No. 1 challenger Luis Alberto ‘Pan Blanco’ Rios of Panama was elected by the Panamanian boxing commission and his country’s boxing press as their ‘Boxer of the Year’.

In an article posted by Marcelino Castillo on the Spanish language boxing website notifight.com, Rios was cited in his country for beating Arnoldo Solano of Nicaragua by 9th round TKO for the vacant WBO Latino lt. flyweight title last February 2012, stopping Luis Carillo of Colombia in five rounds and winning the right to challenge IBF junior flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero of the Philipines by beating Felipe Salguero of Mexico by 11th round TKO last October.

Casimero’s camp has won the purse bidding for the right to stage the fight with the assistance of Sampson Boxing headed by International matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz.

The notifigth.com article mentions the Philippines, Panama or Las Vegas as the possible venues of the fight. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
