THE FRUITAS Shakers and the Café France try to shake off the rust from the long break as the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup continues today at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Fruitas guns for its third straight win when it battles the winless Informatics Icons while the Bakers aim to bounce back from their defeat to Blackwater when they face off against the Jose Rizal University in the main offing at 4 pm.
The sixth-ranked Shakers seek to improve on their 3-3 (win-loss) record to enhance their chances of advancing to the quarterfinals. They have won their last two games but have not played in nearly a month since stunning Big Chill, 86-81, last Dec. 11.
Informatics remains the only team in the 11-team field without a win but the Fruitas coach has a strong feeling that the Icons are due for a win.
With a 0-7 mark, the Icons are out of contention for a playoff berth.
Meanwhile, for the Bakers, the loss to Blackwater Sports was particularly heart breaking because it diminished their chances for an outright semifinal berth. But they’re still in the race for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
