Capitol’s P30,000 bonus out on Monday

THE Cebu Capitol may be having cash flow problems with bills suddenly presented at yearend, but its 5,000 employees won’t suffer.

A P30,000 Christmas bonus, which was announced last Dec. 21, will be released next week.

Provincial Administrator Eduardo Habin issued a memorandum to all department heads and employees informing them that their bonuses will be released on Monday, Jan. 7.

Boo Sungcad, chief of staff of Acting Gov. Agnes Magpale, said Magpale signed the P50.8 million check for the bonus on Wednesday afternoon.

The check needs at least three days to be cleared by the bank before the cash is released.

Capitol employees will receive P30,000 each, which is P10,000 more than what they received in 2011, and a sack of rice.

Roger Serna, who worked at the Capitol for 21 years, said they welcome the news while Dioneses Canonigo, a casual worker previously assigned at the closed Sugbo TV, was cautious.  Canonigo was among 31 employees of the TV cable station who refused to renew ther contracts after expiry on Dec. 31. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
