Innodata leads semifinals cast

Innodata, Erco, Unitech Pipe and Convergys-A make up the final four of the inter-BPO/company category of the ongoing 15th Aboitiz Football Cup after they beat their respective quarterfinal foes yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Innodata and Erco clinched their semifinals ticket by prevailing over their opponents in a penalty shootout after their regulation matches ended at 0-all. Innodata blanked Leylam 2-0 while Erco edged NCR 2-1.

Unitech Pipe surged past Accenture into the semifinals courtesy of its lone goal by Kent Zozobrado in the 16th minute of the match.

The last semifinal ticket was grabbed by Convergys-A, which completed a  4-1 beating of Timex-BP.

Antonio Yap gave Convergys-A an early lead with his goal scored with just nine minutes into the ballgame. Glenn Montesclaros made it two for Convergys-A just three minutes later. The rest of Convergys-A’s goals were contributed by Rafa Bacalla (24th) and Rei Panila (31st).
Timex-BP’s lone goal was scored by Lowell Cabansay in the 16th minute.

DAY OF DRAWS
In the men’s open, a draw was the order of the day as three of the five matches on hand ended in a stalemate.

Don Bosco United (DBU) FC-B and Don Bosco (DB) Magone ended their match in a scoreless draw, San Roque Football Club (SRFC) and B-Meg Camellans figured in a 1-all draw and Avengers FC and

Toledo Harumi finished their match in a 3-all draw.

FCIC escaped with a 3-1 outsmarting of DBU FC-A while the Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) surged past DB Razkals, 5-3.

Meanwhile, seeing action in a friendly game this 3 p.m. still at the Aboitiz Sports Field is the US Navy, who will go up against a beefed-up Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) squad.

Organizer Jan Nacional said the CQCU will be reinforced by a selection from other teams because some of its players are still on vacation.
