20 injured in QC bus accident

MANILA, Philippines—Twenty people were injured after two passenger busses figured in an early road accident in Quezon City Friday, a city traffic sector officer said.

Senior Police Officer Gary Tanacay said a Prado bus suddenly hit a Jayross bus from behind while travelling along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City around 5:30 a.m.

He said initial investigation showed that the Prado bus hit the other bus after its driver lost control of its vehicle due to slippery road caused by the light rains earlier Friday.

“Maambon noon at madulas ang kalye so kapag tumutok ka sa isang sasakyan sa harap mo tapos bigla s’yang nag slow down, ang tendency is babangga ka don,” Tanacay said.

The injured passengers were all from the Prado bus, Tanacay said, noting that one was severely injured, while the rest suffered only from bruises and bumps. They were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center in QC.
