IBP-GWAPO dismantled R.P. Mora-Lycans, 79-53, to march to the final round of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-2012 basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
IBP-Gwapo will face UC-Picpa in the winner-take-all finals on January 5, 2013 after the latter outlasted defending champion Hoopers, 100-91.
IBP had a slim, 17-12 lead in the opening period before padding its advantage to, 37-25, at the half. It then tore the game apart with a furious, 24-9 storm in the 3rd period for a, 61-34 leeway heading to the final quarter.
Rowell Juban and Milky Villamor led IBP-Gwapo with 17 and 15 points, respectively, while Michael Jumuad and Roldan Tayong paced Lycans with 14 and 11, respectively.
In the main game, UC-Picpa anchored its upset win over defending champion Hoopers with a strong second quarter where it outscored the latter, 30-16.
The Hoopers outscored UC-Picpa in the second half, 60-49 but still failed to snatch the victory as the latter had already piled enogh points in the first bend.
Jacon Bonsucan scattered a game-high 30 points spiked by five trifectas for UC-Picpa while Alvin Sabala and Rengie Galo added 19 and 16 points, respectively. Dondon Santiago and Andre Tocao paced Hoopers with 30 and 13 points, respectively.
