Baby used to sneak ‘shabu’ into Makati jail

/ 11:08 PM December 26, 2012

A female visitor at Makati City jail was arrested on Christmas Day for allegedly trying to smuggle “shabu” into the facility by hiding the drug in the footwear of the one-year-old baby she was carrying.

Police said a small packet of the illegal drug was seized from Joane A. Bacarisas, 29, of Mayor Street, Malibay, Pasay City, during a security check on Tuesday.

Bacarisas, who was visiting her estranged husband and drug suspect Ronald Taylo, was carrying their child when she showed up around 3 p.m.

In a routine check, jail guards May Blanza and Denise Pascual discovered the shabu hidden in the child’s sandal, according to a report prepared by Senior Police Officer 1 Rafael Castillo.

Bacarisas, who said she had been separated from Taylo since 2009, is now facing charges of drug possession. Noli A. Ermitanio
