The Obama family flew to Hawaii from Washington on Friday night. White House officials have not announced when the president is expected to return to Washington.

In the past, Obama has spent 10 to 14 days in Hawaii at Christmastime. This year, he’s expected to curtail his holiday to return to budget negotiations with lawmakers dealing with efforts to avert the so-called “fiscal cliff” of tax hikes and spending cuts scheduled to take effect next month.
