Junkshop owners can help cut burglaries, carnapping incidents

THE Mandaue City policemen has sought the help of 30 junkshop owners in helping reduce the burglary and carnapping incidents in the city.

Mandaue City Police Chief Petronelli Baldebrin and Investigation and Detection Management Branch chief Michael Anthony Bastes asked the junkshop owners to stop buying stolen products.

The police officers said these would cut down the burglary and carnapping cases in the city.

The junkshop owners agreed with the policemen’s requests.

Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of Investigation and Detection Management Branch, said that Senior Supt. Baldebrin and Chief Insp. Bastes reminded the junkshop owners of the Anti-Fencing Law, which required junkshop owners to secure the necessary clearance or permits from the station commander of the Integrated National Police in the town or city where such store, establishment or entity where the business was located.
