TRICYCLE drivers in Talisay City started receiving P150 cash for fuel subsidy on Wednesday.
Emma Macuto, Talisay City treasurer, said there are 1,746 legitimate tricycle drivers in the city who will receive assistance from the government’s fuel subsidy program.
She said they would accommodate 150 tricycle drivers per day and expect the distribution to be done by the middle of August.
Angelino Gonzalez Jr., 38, vice president of Mohon, Pooc, Biasong Tricycle Drivers Association (MOPOBIA), said the subsidy is too small and not enough to compensate for the increase in prices of gasoline.
“Gamay ra gyud kaayo (P150 fuel subsidy) kay dili gani paigo sa tulo ka litro nga gasolina sa usa ka adlaw kay P57.50 na gud ang litro sa gasolina (It (150 fuel subsidy) is very small because it is not even enough to purchase three liters of gasoline, which costs P57.50 per liter,” Gonzalez said.
“But nevertheless, we are still thankful to President Aquino for the assistance,” Gonzalez said.
The requirements to get the subsidy are the official receipt of the motorcycle, tricycle franchise and valid identification card. CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
