MAN SHOT BY NEIGHBOR

A MAN was critically wounded after he was shot by his neighbor in barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

Jericho Padin was wounded in the body and left leg. He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) for treatment.

The suspect, Albert Bacarisas, was arrested by police in a follow-up operation.

Police said the victim was able to mention the name of the suspect when he was brought to a hospital.

Baxarisas was upset at Padin whom he accused of courting his girlfriend, police said.

Asuncion Padin, the victim’s grandmother, told police said bursts of gunfire awakened her past 2 a.m. yesterday.

Asuncion said she went out to check and saw her grandson wounded about 20 meters from her house.

ARMED MAN NABBED

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was arrested after he was caught carrying an unlicensed firearm in barangay Poblacion, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Police recovered a .22 revolver with three bullets from Ronie Sellora Dagatan, a resident of barangay Suba, Danao.

Police said they received a report that a man was seen carrying a firearm near a barbecue stand in Poblacion 8 p.m. last Saturday.

Police rushed to the area and caught the suspect carrying a firearm.

A charge of illegal possession of a firearm will be filed against Dagatan, police said./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito

HOUSE RANSACKED

VALUABLES worth P118,000 were stolen by unidentified thieves who ransacked a house in barangay Poblacion Ward 2, Minglanilla, southern Cebu.

Cristobal Damandaman, 46, told police that he and his wife were at work while their children were at school when the thieves struck.

Damandaman said things inside the house were already in disarray when they arrived past 5 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the thieves entered the house by detaching the four jalousie blades of the window in the kitchen.

Stolen were jewelry, a laptop, a bag, a calculator and P500 cash in the master’s bedroom.

In Argao town, southern Cebu, cash amounting to P38,000 was stolen from a rest house owned by a foreigner.

Police said the stolen money was for the salaries of the caretakers of the rest house in barangay Lengigon.

PO3 Eliezer Canada of Argao police said the thief gained entry by destroying the window screen and removing the jalousie blades of the window near the door.

The thief took a steel cash box containing the money that was placed inside a bedroom.

STORAGE ROOM CATCHES FIRE

A STORAGE room of a motorcycle company was damaged by a fire barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City on Saturday evening.

Motorcycle spareparts and seat covers were destroyed.

The fire broke out at 6:03 p.m. last Saturday. It started at the second floor of Honda Powercycle Inc. owned by Bart Fernandez.

The fire was contained in five minutes.

STORE IN CEBU CITY BURGLED

CLOSE to P2 million worth of merchandise were stolen from a hardware store in barangay Kalubihan,  Cebu City.

Brian del Solo, 26, son of Tylex store, said the establishment had closed shop  six months ago.

The burglary was discovered around 2 p.m. last Dec. 9.

Police said the thieves entered the store by destroying the roll-up door.
