All school shooting victims first graders—coroner

Newtown—Most of the victims killed in a horrific shooting at a Connecticut elementary school were first graders, and were shot more than once with an assault rifle, the coroner said Saturday.

“I believe they’re all first graders,” Connecticut Chief Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver told reporters. First grade in US schools holds mainly six and seven year old children.

“All of wounds that I know of were caused by the long weapon,” he said, referring to a military-style automatic rifle found at the scene.
