Two men initially accosted for not wearing helmets found themselves in deep trouble after one of them pretended to be a policeman while the other turned out to be a robbery suspect.
Benedict Roque, 29, and Rowel Marquez, 30, were arrested at a Quezon City police checkpoint after they were flagged down and found to be in possession of knives.
Masambong police station commander Supt. Pedro Sanchez said the two would be charged with illegal possession of a bladed weapon and usurpation of authority.
Both men were accosted at 7 p.m. at a police checkpoint on Bakawan Street in Project 7, Barangay Veterans Village, for not wearing motorcycle helmets.
Roque, who claimed to be a Manila policeman, failed to present an identification card to back up his claim.
Meanwhile, the police found out that Marquez was a suspect in a robbery case who was released only recently from the Quezon City Jail after he posted bail. Julie M. Aurelio
