How to use, secure your credit cards this Christmas

IT’S shopping time for Filipinos with the Christmas season near. Some will use cash while others buy using their plastic cards or credit cards.

For plastic  card users, here are some tips from the Department of Trade and Industry on how to use and secure your credit card.

1. Sign right away the credit or debit cards once you received them.

2. Don’t reveal information regarding your credit card or debit card such as account numbers, Phone numbers, and address of every credit card company.

3. Monitor closely your credit card every time you make a transaction and get it right away after every transaction.

4. Don’t divulge personal information such as bank account and passwords.

5. Don’t let yourself get easily hooked by credit card offers. Check with the banks if these offers are genuine offers.

6. Keep your receipts of every transaction and other similar documents.

7. Inform or call the credit card company if there is an added transaction in your billing statement.

8. If your credit card is lost or stolen, inform or call the credit card company right away.

9. It’s illegal for an establishment to set a minimum amount for the use of credit cards.

10. There should only be one price for a product whether it’s paid in cash or using a credit card.
