BIR shocks DOST in Arena-7 cagefest

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) stunned the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), 65-61, last Tuesday for its 4th win in seven games (4-3) in the ongoing Association of Regional Executives in National Agencies (ARENA), Region 7 basketball tournament at the DPWH covered court in SRP.

BIR jumped to a 19-14 start, but DOST responded with a blistering 24-13 run orchestrated by Boy Raboya and Dodong Dinglasa to grab a, 38-32 lead at the half.

In the 3rd period, BIR coach Norwin Honoridez employed a solid man-to-man defense that resulted in a, 15-6 run for a three-point BIR lead, 47-44, entering the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the two protagonists engaged in an air-tight battle resulting in several deadlocks and lead changes before Allen Sorela and Yoly Meso delivered crucial baskets in the dying seconds for BIR’s four-point victory.
