Arroyo seeks Christmas furlough
MANILA, Philippines—Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Wednesday filed a petition asking the Sandiganbayan for a Christmas furlough.
In a seven-page petition filed by her lawyer, Arroyo, who now represents the second district of Pampanga in the House of Representatives, asked that she be allowed to spend Christmas in her hometown Lubao, Pampanga.
Arroyo appealed to the anti-graft court t from for an 18 day furlough from December 21 to January 7.
House Minority Leader Danilo Suarez on Wednesday urged the Sandiganbayan to grant the former president’s Christmas plea for “humanitarian reasons…so she can be with her family.”
He said that Arroyo was still very ill and should be with her family during the holidays.
