Mandaue gov’t nixes contract with tow firm

MANDAUE City Hall will cancel its contract with a towing firm after it failed to post a performance bond and received complaints about its performance.

City Administrator James Abadia said they will send a notice of rescission to Jadewell Parking System Corp. signifying the termination of their contract which expires 60 days after the company receives the notice.

Abadia said the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) board is already entertaining two towing companies to replace Jadewell.

He said Jadewell failed to post a performance bond of P500,000 in violation of their agreement.

Abadia also said Jadewell failed to provide identification of permanent parking areas and the equipment and other necessary supplies needed in the construction, installation and operations of electronic parking meters and on-street parking management system.

He said the vehicles impounded by Jadewell for more than six months were still in the impounding area and not auctioned in violation of a city ordinance.

Its failure to collect charges and penalties also resulted to a loss of income for the city, Abadia said. Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
