Newly-hired maid victimizes employer

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman reported to the police that her jewelry and cash worth at least P100,000 were stolen by her newly hired maid in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.

Ellen Varquez identified the helper as a certain as An-An, a native of Negros Oriental.

Varquez said An-An was referred to her by her former helper Janet Luanio, who lives in Pusok.

Luanio said she didn’t know the complete name of An-An since she only knew her through a common friend.

Varquez said she hired An-An last Thursday night. She said she last saw An-An around 7 a.m. the next day.

Varquez said she later found out that some of her jewelry and cash were missing.

Missing items included a gold necklace worth P55,000, a gold class ring worth P5,000, a . gold bracelet worth P25,000 and P10,000 cash.

Varquez said her parents’ set of jewelry with an undetermined amount was also taken.

Varquez tried to find An-An in her aunt’s in barangay Casili, Consolacion town but was told that the suspect had not been living there in the past three years./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
