2 men robbed 2 convenience stores in Quezon City and Manila within 1 hour
MANILA, Philippines—Two men who shot dead a security guard at a 7-Eleven branch in Quezon City early Sunday morning were the very same men who robbed another branch of the convenience store chain in Manila an hour later, police said.
Police said images captured by closed-circuit television cameras at the two establishments showed that the two robberies were perpetrated by the same hoods.
Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the perpetrators of both robberies wore the same caps and had identical features as captured by the CCTV cameras.
A security guard at the 7-Eleven branch at the corner of Quezon Avenue and Scout Reyes Street in Barangay (village) Paligsahan died after he was shot by the two robbers who posed as customers.
Reynaldo Guiatao was killed when one of the suspects fired at him after he noticed that the two “customers” were armed.
On Monday, case investigator Police Officer 2 Roldan Cornejo and other operatives went to the 7-Eleven branch on N. Zamora corner Moriones Street in Tondo, which was also robbed on Sunday.
Article continues after this advertisementCornejo noted that the robbery in Quezon City happened at 5:57 a.m. while the Moriones incident was at 6:41 a.m. Both involved the same suspects.
Police were checking their rogues’ galleries and comparing the latest videos with those of earlier robberies at 7-Eleven stores in an effort to identify and catch the suspects.
