Two young girls were stabbed dead inside their house in Caloocan City when they were left by themselves after one of the victims’ mother went home to the province to visit her husband.
The killer who has yet to be identified was also believed to have raped one of the girls who was only 10 years old. The other victim was her 15-year-old cousin.
At press time, the Caloocan police had yet to determine when and why the girls—whom they did not name because both were minors—were killed.
Initial reports from Inspector Jose Bonifacio of the Caloocan police said the bodies of the victims were found Sunday morning after the father of the older girl went to the house in Barangay (village) 12, Caloocan City, to check on his daughter.
Bonifacio added that the older girl had been asked to look after her younger cousin because the latter’s mother had gone home to the province to visit her husband.
The body of the 10-year-old was found in the bathroom with multiple stab wounds. Her lower garments had been pulled down, indicating that she may have been raped. There were also strangulation marks found on her neck.
The 15-year-old, on the other hand, was found in the living room, her body also riddled with stab wounds.
Bonifacio said the killer apparently forced his way into the house by breaking the lock on the front door. He then used a kitchen knife he found inside the house to stab the victims.
