Miner who died in Camarines Norte identified

MANILA, Philippines—One of the miners who died in a mining pit that collapsed in Paracale town in Camarines Norte early this week was identified Friday.

The fatality was identified as Julian Cabarubia, 23, from Bagumbayan village in Paracale, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

His body was found at the mining site Thursday afternoon and was brought to the Municipal Health Office for autopsy.

Authorities were looking for two other trapped miners—Louis Sayson, 29, and Carlos Salen, 27. Both were from Tawig village also in Paracale.

Search and rescue operations were suspended past 9 p.m.Thursday due to low tide and bubbling of water from the ceiling.

It resumed later past midnight but the operations yielded no results after the diver resurfaced at 3 a.m.
