THE National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) yesterday filed a complaint against two male Koreans accused of illegally bringing in second-hand vehicles to the country.
Kin Jil Young and Yang Seung Joon were charged with violation of Republic Act 1937 or the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines before the Mandaue City Prosecutors’ Ofice.
They opted not to undergo preliminary investigation which would have given them the chance to refute the allegations.
Kin and Yang were arrested by the NBI-7 inside KJ Motors in barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City last Tuesday afternoon for illegally importing 23 vehicles.
NBI-7 agent Larry Dominguez, in an interview, said the two Koreans declared the cars as “spare parts” in the Bill of Ladings, a document which shows details of a shipment and requires the carrier to deliver it to the actual recipient.
The NBI-7 requested the two accused to show a certification to prove that they made legal fees to the Bureau of Customs.
