BOMB components belonging to the Central Command (Centcom) were found abandoned in a boat.
The explosive devices were turned over to the Centcom last Thursday after they were found abandoned in Starcraft II last Nov. 1, said Senior Supt. Ramon Melvin Buenafe, chief of the Cebu City Police Office.
Buenafe said the public should not worry with the discovery of the bomb components since they belong ed to the military and was not meant to disturb the peace especially the upcoming thanksgiving Mass for San Pedro Calungsod.
According to the head of Centcom’s Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD), the bomb devices were supposed to be brought to Bohol to be used in a lecture on explosives.
The recovered bomb components included detonating cords, time fuse, C-4 plastic explosive, galvanometers, eye protector, improvised electric pyrotechnic, Christmas lights and masking tape.
The explosive components were traced to the Centcom through a courier receipt bearing the name of Jeffrey Pabilona of the Philippine Army assigned at Centcom.
Buenafe said Centcom promised to sanction the person who left the bomb components behind.
The explosive devices were first turned over to the Waterfront police station then to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team for proper disposition.
Buenafe said the seacraft management didn’t immediately turn over the explosives to the police since they waited for 15 days for the owner to claim the items./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
