Changes to legislative calendar at House bared
MANILA, Philippines — After the midterm elections next year, lawmakers will only be coming back for session once to formally close the 15th Congress.
Instead of resuming session on June 3, House majority leader Neptali Gonzales II said that legislators will come back for session instead on June 6.
A concurrent resolution stated that the earlier schedule has been changed from June 5 to June 6.
“We just need one day for our ceremonial sine die adjournment. We cannot do other things when we return after election,” he told reporters through text message on Wednesday.
This was echoed by Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. who said that “there’s really nothing much to do at that stage.”
