The weather bureau warned Tuesday of possible flashfloods and landslides in the Eastern Visayas and portions of Mindanao with the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) expected to dump rains in the areas.

Weather in Metro Manila is expected to remain generally sunny until the weekend although the northeast monsoon is in effect over Northern Luzon.

Forecasters said they expect the ITCZ affecting the Visayas and Mindanao to spawn moderate to heavy (5 mm to 15 mm per hour) rainshowers and thunderstorms particularly over the Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao and Northern Mindanao regions.

The agency advised residents in the areas to take all necessary precautionary measures. Jeannette I. Andrade
