Cebu Homebuilders trounce Durabend

CEBU HOMEBUILDERS snuck in to the third seed heading to the playoffs as they defeated Durabend, 68-59, in the final playdate of the elimination round of the 2012 United Architects Basketball Club 3rd Corporate Cup last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.

Par Villarin fired in 14 points while Mark Paradero added 13 for the Homebuilders, which actually tied Durabend with identical 5-5 (win-loss) records but grabbed the third seed because of their higher quotient.

Jay Radomes paced the losing team with 19 points.

Defending champions Unitec locked the top spot up with an 82-59 win over Matimco to finish the round with an 8-2 mark.

Matimco had a better season than last time wherein they finished without a win. They bowed out with a 2-8 mark.

Boysen, on the other hand, welcomed back star wingman Michael Cinco as they routed Puyat Steel, 97-84.

Cinco, who has been missing in their last two losses, piled up 36 points while Josephril Partosa had a career-high 21 points.

Boysen is seeded second with its 6-4 card and will face Cebu Homebuilders in the playoffs. Unitec will be taking on Durabend. The top two seeds will be armed with the twice-to-beat advantage.
