Some 1,000 passengers stranded in ports due to bad weather—Coast Guard
MANILA, Philippines – Roughly 1,000 passengers were stranded in several ports on Wednesday because of Tropical Storm “Juaning,” a Philippine Coast Guard spokesman said.
Lieutenant Commander Algier Ricafrente said that 1,155 passengers were left in the ports of Batangas, Calapan, Lucena, Romblon and Pilar. At the same time, he said 14 shipping vessels and 15 motorized boats have been grounded.
Roll on-Roll off (Ro-Ro) operations of sea vessels travelling from Batangas to Romblon, Marinduque and Agua de Ilog were cancelled, said Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina, Mimaropa Region IV-B Highway Patrol Group director.
Meanwhile, all bridges and roads in the Mimaropa (Mindoro-Marinduque, Romblon-Palawan) region are now passable.
