TEAM LAPU-LAPU and Mandaue’s International Shotokan Karatedo Federation (ISKF) karatekas will begin their campaign in the Visayas Regional Finals of the Batang Pinoy 2012 in Tacloban City this Wednesday.
Team Lapu-Lapu ISKF competed recently in the World Shoto Cup 2012 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, where some of its karatekas managed to bag medals.
Earl Justine Perez won a silver medal in the 12-13 junior division kumite, Rowena Barredo won a bronze medal in the 8-9 years old kata and Rafael Vidal won a bronze in the junior division.
All three will see action in Tacloban. Joining them will be Felix Calipusan , Gerald Baclaan, Jeremy Norfe, Rafael Vidal , Lovely Caliwag, Kryl Boyet Perez, Greg Christian Cabrerra, Rowela Barerrdo , Lance Jodeil Toipez, Jessa Avila, Rica Faith Orbiso and Christian Sadili. The team will be headed by coach Reynante Vidal along with assistant coaches Rhodee Savebra and Kent Juban.
Team Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue merged for the Batang Pinoy to form a stronger team that will go up against Cebu City and other teams from the region, according to Vidal.
