New claimants of the Rallos road lot in barangay Sambag 1 visited Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama recently to assert that the property was already donated to the city.
Without giving details, Rama said he is having their claims and the documents they brought verified by his legal consultant Jade Ponce.
“They would like to refute the claims of the other Rallos group because they also have documents in their hand…. I do not know where they could be of help to the city but we are maintaining our position not to pay claims of P133 million,” said Rama.
This new group would be the third group to join the fray.
Last March, Virginia and Marian Rallos, who claimed to be grandchildren of the Fr. Vicente Rallos came out to oppose the claims for just compensation of Lucina Rallos.
The group of Lucina Rallos won a just compensation claim worth P133 million as heir of Vicente Rallos.
However, Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district continues to insist that the city should already pay the Ralloses especially to free the South Road Properties (SRP) of any encumbrance.
“Filinvest is a multimillion investment but people are not buying because of the P133 million claim by the Ralloses. The city is being held hostage. Kinsay mo palit ug yuta nga naay judgment. But they (Rama’s camp) do not care about all these things. Pulos lang garbo,” said Osmeña.
To fund payment of the just compensation claim, Lucina Rallos’ group earlier asked the court to order City Hall to auction a developed property in the South Roads Properties.
This property is under a joint venture by the City Hall and the Filinvest group.
But Ponce said it is more detrimental and damaging is when the people are being forced to pay for something that was already given to the City Hall 72 years ago.
