Rookie Gialon upstages Saban in ICTSI golf tilt

Being a rookie meant little to Zanie Boy Gialon as he emerged victorious after beating Elmer Saban by three strokes in the ICTSI Canlubang Golf Invitational championship yesterday in at the CanGolf’s north course.

The win was Gialon’s second this season as he took advantage of the meltdown of second-round leader Jhonnel Ababa, who finished with a 74 during the final round. Gialon finished with a four-under 68.

Gialon pocketed the P200,000 top purse, his second on the ICTSI-Philippine Golf Tour after edging Order of Merit frontrunner Tony Lascuna in a playoff to capture his maiden victory in the rain-shortened ICTSI Negros Occidental Classic last July. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
