All set for Cooperative Advocacy Run

The Cebu City Cooperative Development Council (CDC) , the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) of Region 7 and the Cebu City Leaders Council (CLC) joined hands to stage the Cooperative Advocacy Run slated Jan. 6, 2013 starting at the Plaza Independencia.

Headed by councilor Nida Cabrera, who is also the chairperson of the CDC, the running event aims to promote unity among the members of cooperative groups in Central Visayas.

The event was launched yesterday at the Vice Mayor’s Office at the Cebu City Hall. It was attended by CDA Region 7 director Philip Deri, Cebu City Leaders Council vice chairman Napoleon Sentilles and race director Raffy Uytiepo.

The running event will have a 3-kilometer, 5k and 10k distance.

“We are doing this because we want to promote a healthy lifestyle to members and leaders of the cooperatives in Central Visayas, especially the cooperative groups in Cebu,” said Cabrera.

According to Deri, the running event will also serve as Central Visayas’ kick off activity for the International Year of Cooperatives next year.

“I am encouraging them maybe four to five of their members or leader to join the running event because this is a very fun activity and a good start for a healthy lifestyle,” said Deri.

Cash prizes will be given to the top 10 winners in the 5k and 10k race while the 3k winners will receive medals.

Registration fee is pegged at P250. Registration areas are at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City Sports Center and at the Cebu City Hall. Registration starts next week.
