DURABEND was finally able to catch up with the free-falling Boysen as it trounced Matimco, 76-58, in the 2012 United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) 3rd Corporate Cup last Sunday at the Cebu Eastern College gym.
Durabend, last year’s runners-up, took advantage of an undermanned Matimco squad as it pulled away in the fourth period, where it outscored its opponents, 25-12, after leading by just five at the end of the third.
Durabend and Boysen tote identical 5-4 (win-loss) records.
Boysen continued its downward spiral as it lost to Cebu Home Builders, 61-80.
Michael Cinco was once again a no-show for Boysen and his team suffered the consequences as it fell to a tie for second place in the standings with just one more playdate remaining in the elimination round.
Meanwhile, defending champions, Unitec, locked up the top spot and the first twice-to-beat incentive as it beat Puyat Steel, 94-78.
Criz Matunoh led five players in double-figures for Unitec with 14 points.
Unitec pushed their mark to a league-best 7-2 while Puyat Steel and Cebu Home Builders are battling it out for the last ticket to the semifinals as they both share similar 4-5 cards.
