CEBU CITY Mayor Michael Rama said he no longer wants to dwell on why the Liberal Party junked him and endorsed Rep. Tomas Osmeña for the city mayorship.
“I no longer find it necessary to answer that issue. I am already comfortable where I am,” Rama said.
Last Friday, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas told reporters the Liberal Party which he heads chose Osmeña as its mayoralty bet because he is the “overwhelming choice” of barangay officials and LP members in the city.
Even as Mayor Rama tries to move on with the United Nationalist Alliance that adopted him and his Team Rama for the 2013 election, he said the comments of Roxas on local politics left a “bad taste in the mouth”.
He said the Interior and Local Government secretary should “remain impartial.
Rama said that in the days to come the DILG will become an important venue for local government concerns.
The mayor asked DILG Cebu city director Patricio Gabuya to make sure that all his concerns are relayed to Roxas.
Gabuya was attending a meeting at a room next to the mayor’s conference room where Rama was having his noontime press conference.
“The DILG secretary came to Cebu and got involved in local politicals.
It may come to a point where I have to accuse him one day of being partisan,” Rama told Gabuya.
