Gateway mall fire placed under 2nd alarm

MANILA, Philippines—The fire at the Gateway mall in the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City, was placed under second alarm as of 10:45 p.m Friday.

Fire Officer 3 Sheila Balaba said fire started at the basement area of the Gateway Mall in Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City at 10:05 p.m.

Radio reports quoted Quezon City fire marshall, Fire Officer 2 Albert Flores as saying that the fire might have been caused by a faulty generator.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the flow of traffic has been affected, as a gridlock had formed at the north-bound lane of EDSA from Ayala to Cubao.—Jamie Marie Elona
