Fire guts part of Gateway mall in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines—Fire gutted a portion of a shopping complex in Quezon City Friday evening, the National Capital Region Bureau of Fire Protection said.
Fire Officer 3 Sheila Balaba said the fire started at the basement area of the Gateway Mall in Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City, around 10:05 p.m.
The blaze was placed under first alarm.
Radio reports quoted Quezon City fire marshall, FO2 Albert Flores as saying that the fire might have been caused by a generator.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the flow of traffic had been affected, creating a gridlock at the north-bound lane of EDSA from Ayala to Cubao.—Jamie Marie Elona
