/ 02:42 PM November 09, 2012

MANILA, Philippines — Nine people were wounded when a bus figured in an accident with a trailer truck in Isabela province before dawn Friday, police said.

Chief Inspector Alejandrino Ganmadan said a Florida bus was on its way to Cagayan when it tried to avoid a motorcycle that suddenly blocked its way along Quirino, causing it to ram a trailer truck parked at the other side of the road around 3 a.m.

He said nine people, all of which were from the Florida bus, sustained injuries, including its driver identified in radio reports as Pablo Antonio Valderas.

Ganmadan said the feet of the bus driver were stuck and nearly amputated due to the impact of the collision.

He, however, said authorities have yet to identify the names of the other injured victims.
