A COUPLE said they lost at least P250,000 after they were robbed at gunpoint by motorcycle-riding robbers along a road in barangay Balud, San Fernando town, southern Cebu.
Erlinda and Fernando Jimena of Oslob town were riding a cargo truck to Cebu City to buy merchandise for their convenience store when they were robbed past 10 a.m. last Wednesday.
A motorcycle drove beside the truck and its backrider, who was armed with a .357 revolver, instructed the truck driver Pablito Vecuiso to pull over.
Vecuiso continued driving but a second motorcycle appeared and its backrider pointed an Ingram machine pistol at the driver warning him to stop.
When the truck stopped, another cohort armed with a .45 pistol approached the couple and took their bag containing the cash.
The robbers drove off after the heist.
Senior Insp. Gerard Pelare of San Fernando police said it was possible that the robbers tailed the couple from Oslob and just waited for the right time to waylay the victims./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito
