Several packs of suspected shabu worth at least P250,000 were seized when a man whom authorities described as an elusive illegal drug suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, southern Cebu.
Gerald Joy “Intsik” Baguio has been into selling of illegal drugs for five months and was capable of disposing a kilo of shabu worth P5 million a week, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7).
Jessie Tabanao, PDEA-7 information officer, said a buy-bust operation was conducted against Baguio five months ago but the suspect managed to escape.
Tabanao said the PDEA-7 had a hard time tracking down Baguio since he didn’t transact with buyers whom he didn’t personally knew.
In an interview, Baguio admitted that he owned the packs of suspected drugs seized by the police. He said he got his supply of shabu through his father’s contact in Manila. The suspect’s father is currently detained at the New Bilibid Prison for a murder a case.
Tabanao said since the suspect doesn’t sell drugs to just anyone, the PDEA-7 contacted someone who knew Baguio for the transaction.
Baguio was arrested shortly after he allegedly sold packs of suspected shabu at 3:15 a.m. last Wednesday, said Tabanao.
Seized from the suspect’s possession were eight large packs, two medium packs, and 120 sachets of suspected, deposit slips amounting to P3 million, P3,000 in marked money and drug-sniffing paraphernalia.
The PDEA-7 said the suspect supplied shabu to four towns in northern Cebu and four other areas in south Cebu./WITH CORRESPONDENT TWEENY M. MALINAO
