LAPU MAYOR TO TAKE UP CASES OF KOREANS WITH ENVOY
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza will take up with the Korean ambassador crime incidents in Mactan involving Korean nationals when the diplomat visits on Friday.
“Even before, I have been trying to mediate in cases of troublesome Koreans. In some cases, the conflicts involve fellow Koreans,” Radaza said.
Mayor Radaza said she instructed the police chief, Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, to be more vigilant in preventing Korean conflicts.
Last Oct. 31, two Koreans were ambushed by an unidentified gunman who shot at their car as it left the Pacific Villa I Subdivision.
Another Korean, Kim Jae Hyung, and three Filipino accomplices are facing a frustrated murder complaint for the attempt on the lives of Korean businessman Lee Dong Gun and his assistant Jung Ha Bok.

OLD NURSERY DEMOLITION HALTED
The demolition of homes in the old nursery of the Cebu City government in the North Reclamation Area was put on hold yesterday.
Families of the seven houses demolished last Tuesday will be provided with tents by City Hall.
Dept. for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) head Collin Rosell said the demolition has been halted until the informal settler’s relocation site in La Guerta in barangay Lahug is ready.
Quoting results of a DWUP survey, 26 structures were illegally built in the area. At least 14 were built inside the nursery compound while 22 were built nearby.
Rosell said the 14 families qualify for city government relocation.
He said residents ignored the order from City Hall vacate the government property and only sought DWUP’s assistance when the demolition started last Tuesday./Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
