Manila Water’s desludging caravan to visit 49 East Zone brgys in June
MANILA, Philippines – In celebration of World Environment Day, commemorated June 5 of every year, Manila Water continues to actively encourage its customers to avail of the desludging service offered by the Company at no additional cost.
Regular desludging or siphoning of septic tanks has long been proven to help in the reduction of pollution in the ground and different bodies of water.
Untreated wastewater from septic tanks may seep into the soil and contaminate the ground and can also enter natural bodies of water, which may make them unsuitable for marine life and human use.
“The theme of this year’s celebration of World Environment Day is land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. This includes the revival and care of water cycles and water sources. Through desludging, the sludge or wastewater collected from households undergoes treatment to meet the standards set for effluent, making it safe for life in and out of water, before being discharged to water bodies,” said Jeric Sevilla, corporate communication affairs group director of Manila Water.
In Metro Manila, Manila Water’s desludging caravan will go around Barangay 763, 768, 771, 779, 784, 786, 787, 788, 789, 794, 797, 800, 801, 802, 805, 807, 809, 811, and 812 in the City of Manila; Bahay Toro, Botocan, Mariana, Socorro, Tagumpay, Teachers Village East, Ugong Norte and Vasra in Quezon City; Bel-air, San Lorenzo, Pio Del Pilar, South Cembo, Pitogo, and Valenzuela in Makati City; Pag-asa, Bagong Silang, Harapin ang Bukas, Mauway, Hagdang Bato Itaas, and Hagdang Bato Itaas in Mandaluyong City; Sta.
