‘Workaholic’ Arroyo in hospital —spokesperson

Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was rushed to hospital due to being workaholic, according to her spokesperson in a 990AM interview Tuesday.

MANILA, Philippines—Former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was rushed to hospital on Monday probably due to her being workaholic, her spokesperson said over a 990AM interview Tuesday.

Maite Defensor, who is a former Quezon City lawmaker, said whenever she and the former president talk, all they talk about was work.

Arroyo went straight to Porac, Pampanga after her lunch meeting with the minority bloc of the House of Representatives on Monday to convene with local officials in her district, Defensor said.

She added that there was no complaint of discomfort from Arroyo on that day that she was hospitalized.

A medical bulletin will be issued this morning, she said, adding that “it is better if the doctors would explain.”

She added that only the family were allowed to visit Arroyo.

Arroyo was rushed to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City about 5 p.m. Monday after the second State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III, which she and her lawmaker sons did not attend.

Arroyo was also confined in the same hospital last month due to a pinched nerve.
