Killed were Ernest Alburo, 15, and his passenger, Ralph Vincent Gilig, 16, both of Barangay Nylon, Bogo, about 101 kilometers north of Cebu City.
Hurt were Darwin Duhaylungsod, also of Bogo City, and his two passengers Joey Baulunan and one man identified only as Ariel.
Both Alburo and Duhaylungsod didn’t have any driver’s license, said PO1 Rogen Segunio of the Bogo police station.
He said the police were conducting an investigation to determine why Duhaylungsod and Alburo were allowed to drive motorcycles and ferry passengers when they didn’t have any driver’s licenses.
Segunio said the motorcycle driven by Duhaylungsod was speeding toward Barangay Poblacion past midnight and failed to notice an approaching motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.
The two motorcycles collided. Alburo’s motorcycle skidded and hit an Isuzu pick-up truck parked on the side of the road, said Segunio.
The victims were rushed to the nearby Bogo Medical Hospital but Alburo and Gilig were pronounced dead on arrival.
Duhaylungsod and his passengers were confined in the hospital.
