A gathering ended in tragedy after a carpenter stabbed dead a councilor in barangay Tubod, Badian town, Cebu.
Rubio Salvador, 48, died with a stab wound in the chest. The victim’s neighbor, Nicolas Perez Jr., 48, was arrested after the incident.
Police said the two neighbors attended a wedding party in the house of Angelina Komisyon last Monday afternoon.
At the party, Perez was eating in a table when a drunk Salvador arrived and allegedly grabbed his food, said police.
Police said Perez ignored the incident and transferred to another table where he joined some neighbors in a videoke singing session while drinking.
Police said Perez was singing when Salvador allegedly grabbed the microphone from him.
This time, Perez flared up. He drew an 11-inch scythe and stabbed the barangay official.
Salvador was brought to a nearby hospital but he did not make it alive.
Perez ran to a grassy area after the incident.
Perez’s wife later called the police and informed them that her husband was willing to surrender.
Police arrested the man in his home.
Perez was detained at the Badian police station pending the filing of charges against him, said police.
