Marie Ernestine opens school year with benefit walk

TO mark the opening of the school year, the Marie Ernestine School-North campus in sitio Tac-an, barangay Budlaan, Cebu City, together with the Family and School Collaborative Association (FASCA) held its “Walk for A Cause 2012” last Sept. 22 at 6 a.m. with the theme “Celebrating Life! Stay Fit All the Time.”

The event also highlighted the induction of FASCA officers and board members by Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.

Mayor Rama also participated in the tai-chi morning exercise before leading the participants in the 2-km walk from the school to Budlaan.

Students  marched with their t-shirts bearing colors of their respective clubs, such as the Mandarin Club, Arts Club, Performing Arts Club and Speed Stacks Club.

FEATURED STORIES

The drum, bugle and lyre corps of the school made the activity livelier.

The activity was geared to develop camaraderie as well as promote health and wellness among the parents, students, teachers and staff. It also aimed to raise funds for the future projects of the FASCA this school year.

The walk, the induction of the FASCA officers for 2012-2013 followed.

Mayor Rama then reminded the parents about their role in the education of their children as well as the children of their obligation as students.

Other activities included a Zumba dance led by a Zumba instructor from Fitness First, bingo social with a prize of a sack of rice that went to a Grade- 4 student.

Also present in the activity were the school’s founder Dr. Marie Ernestine D. Fajatin, school director Marie Ernestine Denise F. Pegarido and school administrator Rosette Dizon.
